Dr. Seema Puri is a distinguished nutrition expert with over 40 years of experience in teaching and research at the University of Delhi’s Institute of Home Economics. Renowned for her pioneering work in health and social gerontology, she developed one of the country’s first PG Diploma Programs in this field. Her career is marked by numerous prestigious fellowships and awards, including the Nutrition Leadership Excellence Award and the Rajammal P Devdas Memorial Award, highlighting her significant contributions to nutrition and gerontology.
Dr. Puri’s approach to projects is rooted in a deep understanding of client needs, crafting individualized strategies that are both practical and innovative. Her expertise ensures seamless implementation, with a strong emphasis on monitoring and evaluation to achieve sustainable results. With over 130+ publications and extensive research funded by organizations like WHO, World Bank ICMR and DST, she is a respected voice in her field. Dr. Puri has also served on various national and international committees, including FSSAI, and holds key positions in several professional affiliations, reflecting her ongoing commitment to advancing nutrition science and policy.
She is a member of the South Asian Infant Feeding Research Network (SAIFRN), the International Federation of Home Economics, the Home Science Association of India, and the Indian Academy of Geriatrics. She was the National Vice President of the Indian Dietetic Association and is an Executive Council member of the Nutrition Society of

Her expertise is recognized both nationally and internationally, with active roles on key committees, project review groups, and task forces, including those at FSSAI, the Ministry of Health, DST, ICMR, and the Government of Delhi.
